Open Access Publications

Fraunhofer researchers publish an average of 10.000 papers a year. This includes journal articles, conference papers and conference material, books and book chapters, research reports, studies, and doctoral theses as well as annual reports, presentations and posters.

All publications are catalogued in Fraunhofer-Publica, the central bibliographic publication database. The Open Access publications are also included there.

Fraunhofer has set itself the goal of making as many of its publications Open Access. The Open Access Strategy 2020 sets out the first measures in pursuit of this objective.

Open Access gold refers to a free-of-charge paper that is first published in a recognized, peer reviewed Open Access journal.

Since 2006, Fraunhofer researchers have published in more than 180 Open Access journals.
